Just my thoughts

A pencil is not responsible for the words written by it. It is the user that wrote them.
A fork is not responsible for the foods eaten off of it. It is not the forks fault someone is obese.
A knife is not responsible for how it is used. It cannot tear or cut meat without a force behind it.
A car is not responsible for how it is driven. It doesn't have a choice if the driver is drunk.
A gun is not responsible for how it is used. It cannot decide if the intentions of the person whose finger is on the trigger are for good or for bad.
Each of these things are inanimate objects and cannot cause harm unless used to do so. To blame an object that otherwise sits in a drawer, a cabinet, a closet, a garage, or a case is not the problem and is irresponsible at best.
Each of these things are easily gotten, purchased at the store, on a car lot or at a gun show, but you cannot blame an object for the destruction it has caused. You have to blame the person using the object with the intention of doing harm.
THE BOTTOM LINE, THE COMMON DENOMINATOR IS THAT THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM IS EVIL.
